Today 2nd August 2022, marks the beginning of the most prestigious coffee event: The National Barista Championship India, 2022.
It is the pinnacle of competitive coffee making and brings together baristas, all over the nation.

Held at Bangalore’s famous Orion Mall, the event will be for 5 days. The preliminary rounds will take place between 2 and 4 August, with the winners moving on to the semi-finals on August 6.

Judging
The conclusion will then take place on August 7, 2022. Mr. Jagadeesha, (IAS) CEO & Secretary, Coffee Board of India and Ms. Seonhee Sunny Yoon from South Korea , representative of the Word Coffee Events will serve as the Head Judge for the Semi-Finals and Finals of NBC 2022.

History of the National Barista Championship
The NBC, first started in the year 2001. And it has developed through time to become a symbol of the broad influence of the Indian coffee community. The NBC has raised consumer knowledge of the specialty coffee industry in the Indian market. It aims fostering healthy competition and synergy in the coffee community. The event signifies the nation’s coffee industry and has been hosted previously since 2015.

The competitions will require each contestant to showcase their skills & focus on different aspects of the coffee creation process – flavors, attention to detail, accuracy, creativity, and diligence.
The declared national champion will get a chance to then compete on a global scale. As a result they will be at the World Barista Championship in Melbourne, Australia, from 27th to 30th September, 2022.
National barista championship has evolved rapidly, and produced baristas who are well-known around the world. These baristas have gone ahead and accomplished great things in the industry, some becoming business owners. The competition is extremely challenging. It is a cut-throat competition but winner or not, participants take home knowledge which will help them in future endeavors.
