Brew the Coffee
- Place the filter on the top half and wet it with hot (non-boiling water).
- Now throw out excess water.
- Put the coffee beans on the filter (1gm coffee to 15 ml water)
- Pour little water in a small circle over them.
- Allow the coffee to bloom for 30 seconds. (The coffee bubbles and releases aroma and flavors as it expands)
- Uniformly pour the rest of the water over the beans.
You should consider using the special gooseneck kettle for best results.

About Chemex
The Chemex is a pour-over coffee maker with an hourglass form. It has a hardwood handle and a rawhide leather tie. It is constructed from tempered borosilicate glass. This brewer from the 1940s is also very sleek and classy; thus it is perfect for entertaining guests. The Chemex also uses an infusion method and hence it is said to produce the best coffee a pour-over can make.
In addition, Chemex filters are thicker than other filters. This eliminates any undesired sediments, oils, and fats resulting in a clean cup of coffee. The thick filters also ensure slower brewing; hence coffee beans with a medium-coarse grind and medium roast are used. The hourglass shape makes it a little hard to clean. Borosilicate glass is heavy and delicate hence it is not suitable for travel.
