Tomatoes (10 to 12 weeks of Ingesting)
- Tomatoes have great anti-inflammatory properties. Lycopene in tomatoes helps in the reduction of redness and uneven skin tone. Ingesting tomatoes for 10 to 12 weeks has been shown to reduce UV harm and acne.
- Eat one tomato at each meal for a minimum of 10 to 12 days for benefits.
- However, topical application has not proven any benefits to date.
50% Alovera Gel (Effective within 24 hrs.)
- Aloe vera contains antiseptic agents namely Lupeol, Salicylic acid, Cinnamonic acid, and sulfur.
- They each have an inhibitory action on fungal growth.
- Like every antibiotic and antiseptic action, the result is seen promptly on application.
- Take pulp from an Alovera leaf and mix it with water in a 1:1 proportion. Apply to face and neck.
40 days of Clay/ Multani Mitti
- Multani Mitti is loaded with magnesium chloride. The compound absorbs excess oil and fights acne.
- In double-blinded clinical trials, it was seen that the group who used Multani Mitti for 40 days showed a considerable improvement in acne as opposed to those who were using a placebo.
- Mix Multani Mitti with rose water or sandalwood powder and apply to face and neck for 40 days.
Apple Cider vinegar and Zinc (within 24 hrs.)
- Apple Cider vinegar contains acetic acid and citric acid. Both of them have antibacterial and antifungal properties. They have been shown to inhibit bacterial growth on topical application.
- The lactic acid in apple cider vinegar is mildly exfoliating and has been proved to be helpful against acne.
- Vinegar is quite strong, hence should be used with caution. Mix 2 drops of vinegar in half glass of filtered water and apply on the face and neck with a cotton ball.
Honey and Cinnamon (within 24 hrs.)
- Cinnamon bark contains Cinnamaldehyde as a major component. It is shown to have anti-p acne activity.
- And although the exact bacteriostatic component in honey has not been isolated, studies conducted in 2016, 2017, and 2022 have shown that honey and cinnamon in combination and separately, have a great effect on acne.
Green Tea oral and 3% topical solution over 2 weeks
- Green tea can be rightly called the diamond amongst herbs. The plant has medicinal properties ranging from anti-carcinogenic to anti-aging. One compound called epigallocatechin (EGOG) has significant anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties. Studies have shown that consuming one cup of green tea daily for 12 weeks has effectively reduced acne.
- Applying cold green tea to the face with a cotton ball for 2 weeks has shown reduction and improvement in acne.
Grapes (within 24 hrs.)
- UCLA researchers have demonstrated that resveratrol, an antioxidant found in grapes and wine inhibits bacteria and fungus from growing.
- Applying crushed grape juice or wine topically all over the face and neck with a cotton ball and washing it off with water after 10 minutes can kill bacteria.
- Using it for over 10 weeks can cause a reduction in acne.
Before using any of the above-mentioned ingredients, do conduct a patch test. Also, give an acne treatment for at least 4 weeks to work.
Using a different product every few days can also irritate your skin, causing new breakouts. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, if a treatment works for you, you should notice some improvement in 4 to 6 weeks.
